Seeking INMM Communication Committee Chair
The Communications Committee is responsible for overseeing institutional communications between INMM leadership, its membership, and external communities, including the general public. In particular, the Committee produces the INMM Communicator blog, reviews the content and functionality of the INMM website, provides industry-specific content for our social media feeds, and explores the development of new communication media. The Chair of the Communications Committee represents the Committee before the INMM Executive Committee (EC), initiates Committee business and sets its agenda, organizes the Committee, appoints the subcommittee chairs, provides leadership, and coordinates with other Committee Chairs and members of the EC on projects with mutual relevance. The Chair serves and is appointed by the EC. Communications is a Standing Committee within the scope of the INMM Management Oversight chair.  Read more about the position HERE.

Seeking INMM Annual Meeting Committee Chair

The Annual Meeting Committee Chair is approved by the Executive Committee with oversight provided by the Vice President. The Annual Meeting Committee Chair, working closely with INMM Headquarters Staff, is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting the INMM Annual Meeting as well as liasing with the EC to develop and maintain the organizational strategy for the annual meetings.  Read more about the position HERE.

 
Seeking INMM Historian

The INMM Historian, a newly created position in the INMM organizational structure, facilitates and encourages the preservation of the Institute’s history by ensuring pertinent historical information is identified and maintained and by creating and maintaining an archive for materials related to INMM and the history of the nuclear materials management industry.  The Historian will develop mechanisms and procedures for making historical records widely and easily accessible.   Read more about the position HERE.

Institute for Nuclear Materials Management Honors Idaho National Laboratory Scientist Augustine Caffrey with the Vincent J. DeVito Distinguished Service Award.

Palm Desert, California, USA, July 15, 2019:  The Institute for Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) honored Dr. Augustine “Gus” Caffrey, a scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory, with the Vincent J. Institute for Nuclear Materials Management Honors Sandia National Laboratories Scientist Zoe Gastelum with the Early Career Award.

Palm Desert, California, USA, July 15, 2019:  The Institute for Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) honored Zoe Gastelum, a scientist at the Sandia National Laboratories, with the Early Career Award.  This award recognizes members of the INMM who are 35 years of age or younger and who have made a singular outstanding achievement or a series of notable achievements in an area of nuclear materials management relevant to the Institute and its technical divisions during their time as an INMM member.  READ MORE about Ms. Gastelum.

Institute for Nuclear Materials Management Honors Argonne National Laboratory Scientist Justin Reed with the Early Career Award.

Institute for Nuclear Materials Management Honors Oak Ridge National Laboratory Scientist Lawrence Satkowiak with the Edway R. Johnson Meritorious Service Award.

Pietri Special Service Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations who have made a specific, noteworthy contribution to the Institute, was presented to Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL). Interactive Closing Plenary To Be Held at INMM Annual Meeting

An expert panel of five widely respected speakers from across the globe will lead an interactive Closing Plenary July 26 at the 59th INMM Annual Meeting. The scope of the session, entitled “Global Nuclear Materials Stewardship Challenges,” is to identify what matters most to the INMM community, and how INMM should be planning to address priority topics in the long-term. Maria Betti, Brent Park Headline INMM Annual Meeting Opening Plenary

Maria Betti, Director of the European Commission G Nuclear Safety and Security, and JRC Karlsruhe Site, and Brent Park, Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, will be the opening plenary speakers at the 59th INMM Annual Meeting.  The opening plenary will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland USA. Also at the opening, the INMM will recognize the 10th anniversary of WINS, the World Institute for Nuclear Security, and Will Tobey, chair of the WINS Board of Directors, will speak. Read More

Lambert Named Chair of INMM Cyber/Physical Security Integration Committee

David Lambert, Director and Senior Security Specialist for Gregg Protection Services, has been named chair of the new INMM ad hoc committee -- Cyber/Physical Security Integration Committee. A senior member of INMM, Lambert’s vision for the committee is to incorporate security of computer-based systems and cyber protections dialogue into all relevant aspects of the other Technical Divisions and the INMM itself.  Using the expert resources from the INMM membership, the committee will assess the coverage of cyber security in all technical tutorials, training efforts, educational materials, and operations, and provide expert input to integrate cyber aspects into the Institute. Once this is accomplished, the Committee will develop and implement a standard process of continuous evaluation by which the Executive Committee can analyze and evaluate incorporation and promotion. Nuclear Security Summit Discussion To Be Held May 9 in Washington, D.C.

The Northeast Chapter of INMM, in conjunction with The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, will hold an early summer meeting on May 9 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the 6th Floor Lindner Commons at 1957 E Street NW, Washington, D.C.  As part of the Elliott School’s Nuclear Policy Talks, this meeting will discuss the status of agreements and resolutions reached during the last summit. International Nuclear Safeguards Workshop To Be Offered at 2018 Annual Meeting

A four-hour professional development workshop titled “Policy and Technical Fundamentals of International Nuclear Safeguards” will be held in conjunction with the 2018 INMM Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. The workshop offers both a series of online modules as well as the onsite session. Three CEUs and a Professional Certificate are available to attendees who meet the criteria.

Discovery Workshop Early Bird Rates Ending, Additional Keynotes Confirmed

Registration rates for the Nuclear Materials Science, Processing and Signature Discovery Workshop will increase April 1.  The workshop, to be held May 1-2 on the campus of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington, will focus on emerging technologies, techniques and methods for nuclear materials science processing and its applications to nonproliferation and nuclear forensics.

IAEA Extends Abstract Deadline for Symposium on International Safeguards to April 10

The abstract submission deadline for the IAEA's Symposium on International Safeguards: Building Future Safeguards Capabilities​ has been extended to April 10. The Symposium, which will take place  November 5-8, 2018, in Vienna, Austria, will look ahead to emerging technologies and innovative approaches with potential for strengthening and streamlining the implementation of safeguards, as well as exploration of partnerships and mechanisms of relevance going forward.

INMM Seeks Chair Applicants for Cyber/Physical Security Integration Committee

The INMM has opened a search for the chair of the newly created Cyber/Physical Security Integration Committee. The new committee is a temporary, ad-hoc committee responsible for working with all INMM Technical Divisions and the Technical Division Oversight Chair to integrate cyber- and cyber-physical security into pertinent areas of Nuclear Materials Management.
