The Executive Committee appoints all Standing and Ad-Hoc Committee Chairpersons. The appointed Chairperson is responsible for selecting Committee members as necessary to fulfill the Committee responsibilities. All Committee members serve at the pleasure of the Chair and the Executive Committee. All appointed Committees provide for their own operation.

The Executive Committee may establish, dissolve or modify Ad-Hoc committees to facilitate the work of the INMM to accomplish its mission.

Annual Meeting Committee

The goal of the Annual Meeting Committee is to promote and provide an annual professional forum for the presentation and discussion of accomplishments, issues, and ideas based on the mission of the Institute. 

 

Annual Meeting Chair

The Chair of the Annual Meeting Committee is the Vice President who is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and executing the Annual Meeting. He or she serves as a member of the Technical Program Committee and coordinates the work between the subcommittees associated with the Annual Meeting. 

 

Technical Program Committee

The Technical Program Committee (TPC) submits to the Executive Committee for its approval proposed dates, meeting accommodations, and agenda for general membership technical meetings and is responsible for such other arrangements as may be necessary to ensure the orderly conduct of these meetings. All of the work of the TPC is supported by INMM Headquarters staff. The TPC plans, develops, and implements the technical program for the Institute’s Annual Meeting. Exhibits and Sponsorship Committee

The Exhibits and Sponsorship Committee works with the INMM Headquarters Staff to provide exhibits coordination and Sponsors for the Annual Meeting, as well as Chapter events upon request. This committee is responsible for recruiting exhibitors, working with INMM Headquarters Staff to arrange exhibitors, and meeting and greeting all exhibitors to thank them for their participation. 

Awards Oversight Committee

The Awards Oversight Committee is responsible for developing and providing formal guidance to the members of the INMM concerning the Awards and Recognition Program. This includes but is not limited to developing policy for determining the awards, reviewing nominations for compliance, collecting and corroborating information, and ultimately recommending qualified candidates to the EC through the INMM President. Shortly after the first of the calendar year, the INMM Headquarters and the Awards Committee Chair issue a call for nominations. The appropriate awards subcommittee studies the information provided by the sponsor, requesting more data or clarification if necessary. When recommendations are ready, they are submitted to the INMM President through the Awards Oversight Committee Chair. At times, the members of the EC will request more information or clarification regarding a nominee. After the EC reaches agreement, the President notifies the Awards Oversight Committee Chair who notifies the appropriate contacts for developing the citations and preparing the award plaques. 

This committee obtains funding from other than the regular INMM budgeting process. INMM members and friends of the Institute may make contributions to the fund at any time. Contributions made in memory of deceased Institute members, friends, or family members, or others who have made contributions to the field of nuclear materials management are recognized in the JNMM or in appropriate form at the INMM Annual Meeting. Chapter Relations Committee

The Chapter Relations Committee is responsible for making recommendations to the INMM Executive Committee regarding annual chapter stipend amount, co-approving with the INMM Treasurer individual chapter stipend requests, assisting groups who are in the process of forming new chapters, and reviewing draft bylaws for both new and existing chapters. The Chapter Relations Committee is also responsible for maintaining several chapter related documents including: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Chapters, the templates for Professional Chapter Bylaws and Student Chapter Bylaws, Student Chapter Handbook (under revision), Chapter Sustainability Guidelines (under revision), Chapter Deliverables (under revision) and Chapter Requirements.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for all communications between INMM and its members, as well as external publicity and outreach to the broader public.

The Committee Chair provides leadership to its volunteer members, appoints each of the Subcommittee Chairs and oversees their activities, and represents the Committee before the EC.
Principal Accountabilities of the Committee Chair are:
a.    Attend and participate in regular meetings of the EC; or assign a delegate to represent the Communications Committee at these meetings.
b.    Provide review and oversight for all electronic and printed INMM publications under its jurisdiction, helping to ensure that they are of high-quality and cost efficient
c.    Prepare and submit periodic reports of Committee activities to the EC and an annual written report to the INMM Membership.
d.    Recommend actions to enhance membership communications
a.    Originate material for communications, both to the membership and for outreach, working with the technical divisions and other committees as appropriate
e.    Submit an annual budget to the Treasurer on behalf of the Committee

INMM Public Relations and Outreach Subcommittee

The INMM Public Relations and Outreach Subcommittee is responsible for providing public outreach for the institute as appropriate, to further the growth of the Institute and communicate Institute activities to the public and industry.

INMM Website Subcommittee

The INMM Website Subcommittee is responsible for the content and functionality of the INMM website ensuring its usability, accuracy, and timeliness. The web site is the primary repository for all information relating to the INMM organization, its activities, as well as for subject matter relevant to the technical disciplines within the scope of the INMM. Standing committees and regional chapters also maintain a presence on the web, either within the main INMM web site, or as standalone external web sites connected via hyperlink(s). Although the main INMM web site is public, there is also a separate password-protected interface for members only.

INMM Communicator Subcommittee

The INMM Communicator Subcommittee is responsible for the preparation and release of the official newsletter of the institute, the INMM Communicator. The Chair of the subcommittee also functions as the Editor of the INMM Communicator.

The INMM Communicator serves as one of the main conduits for the Institute’s communications with its membership. The objectives of the INMM Communicator are to inform INMM members of the activities of the Institute, report news about its members, announce conferences, and otherwise disseminate information to an interested audience. It is released three times a year, following the Formal Executive Committee Meetings. Current and past issues of the INMM Communicator are available on the INMM web site.

INMM Social Media and Apps Subcommittee

The INMM Social Media and Apps Subcommittee is responsible for making recommendations regarding appropriate INMM use of these avenues for communication, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. These tools afford many opportunities for strengthening the organizational network for INMM, yet also introduce possible risks and challenge the INMM's ability to maintain multiple overlapping communication channels.

Education and Training Committee

The Education and Training Committee established activities to increase student membership in INMM, primarily by promoting student participation at the Annual Meeting. The Education and Training Committee promotes US student participation at the Annual Meeting by providing a block of hotel rooms for student occupancy. The Committee supports participation by students from non-US-based Professional Chapters with direct support to three international students per year.
 
In addition to direct support to students, the Committee promotes student membership in INMM by helping to distribute INMM literature to Chapters, and as needed, helping Chapters to distribute literature to colleges and universities from within their respective regions. The Committee directs a mentor program at the Annual Meeting that matches students one-on-one with INMM members. In addition, the Committee works with students at universities to facilitate the formation of new Student Chapters. 

The Chair of this committee oversees INMM activities related to education and training for students and professionals. The Education and Training Chairperson should have experience as an INMM leader and be passionate about supporting the training and development of students and professionals in nuclear materials management from around the world. The chair interfaces with the ESARDA as part of the Nuclear Safeguards and Security Education and Training (NuSaSET) Working Group, and international initiative of INMM, ESARDA, and the IAEA. The portal provides support to professionals in the field of Nuclear Safeguards and Security, specifically to promote the provision of training and education of students. http://www.nusaset.org/. This chair also supports a variety of activities when asked to co-sponsor events that include education and training topics. The chair of this subcommittee is also responsible for preparing written reports of Educations and Training activities for the EC.

Student Activities Subcommittee

The Student Activities Subcommittee Chair plans and coordinates events for student members attending the Annual Meeting, such as:
a)    New Student Orientation - To help students learn about INMM, how to get the most out of the Annual Meeting, including an overview of the sessions during the meeting
b)    Student Networking Mixer 
c)    Lunch with a Mentor - This is a great opportunity for students who are seriously looking for research projects or jobs to talk one-on-one (or two-on-one) with some of the experts in INMM.

Student Career Fair Subcommittee

The Subcommittee periodically holds a Student Career Fair during the Annual Meeting to enable students to network with possible employers. The committee organizes, coordinates, and executes the student career fair and advertises the fair to industry, government, and national laboratories as well as to desired degree fields at schools regional or local to the Annual Meeting venue.

Education and Outreach Subcommittee

This Subcommittee is responsible for meeting requests from universities and student chapters for speakers for chapter meetings and guest lectures.

Fellows Committee

The Fellows Committee, consisting of at least three Senior Members or Fellows, is appointed by the EC who also designates the Chair of the Fellows Committee. The Fellows Committee is responsible for reviewing nominations for advancement to the grade of Fellow and making recommendations for such nominations, promoting the enlistment of members at all grades specified in the Bylaws and this Operations Manual, and shall perform other such duties as may be assigned to it by the Executive Committee.

The Fellows Committee Chairperson is responsible for providing leadership to the Institute Fellows and recommending actions regarding future developments and growth of the Institute.

Principal Accountabilities of the Chair are to provide leadership to the Institute Fellows, organize Annual Fellows luncheon, certify the nomination of Fellow candidates and make recommendations to the Executive Committee, query membership for pertinent issues, relative to fellows and long-range planning, recommend actions regarding future developments/growth of the Institute, and provide annual review of the budget.

To promote effective administrative operations, the Fellows Committee is responsible for maintaining an organizational framework that facilitates timely distribution of information and the generation of responses to requests from the EC. The Fellows Committee serves as the conduit between the collective cadre of members who have attained the grade of Fellow, other members and the EC. The Fellows collectively maintain a plethora of technical and historical knowledge that can be applied to the identification and development of initiatives to not only enhance the operation and future growth of the Institute, but to any actions consistent with the Institute’s goal to encourage efficient management and safeguards of nuclear materials.

Governance Committee

The Governance Committee is responsible for initiating any changes to the Institute Bylaws and Operations Manual as directed by the EC or upon petition from the specified number of members. This includes composing such changes and amendments as are necessary to carry out the intent of the EC or petitioning members, submission to the EC for approval of content as written, and preparation of the document for membership ballot. Additionally, this committee is responsible for ensure that the INMM Operations Manual content continues to be current and relevant. Committee Members are appointed by the Committee Chairperson, subject to approval by the EC.

Journal of Nuclear Materials Management Committee

The Journal of Nuclear Materials Management (JNMM) is the official Journal of the Institute. JNMM is peer-reviewed, published quarterly, and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information related to international safeguards, materials control and accounting, nonproliferation and arms control, physical protection, packaging and transportation, and waste management. In addition to technical papers, JNMM includes special features on leading nuclear material management issues, activities of the Institute, and articles of topical interest. Technical Editor, JNMM 

The JNMM technical editor provides technical oversight to the JNMM headquarters staff, and provides advice and guidance as appropriate. The editor is responsible for soliciting Journal articles from membership, reviewing proofs of the JNMM, and for writing an editorial for each regular issue of the Journal (4 issues). The JNMM technical editor reviews articles and technical manuscripts, for unbiased estimate of relevance, inclusion in the Journal, and technical quality and clarity. This may require working with Assistant Technical Editors or Associate Editors to send out copies for independent technical review and to send comments to authors for revisions to improve clarity or quality. The editor is also responsible for notifying authors of decisions not to publish if necessary. The editor refers matters of policy to the Executive Committee for review and advice. 

Associate Editors

These positions should support the technical editor, representing various areas of technical expertise in a particular technical division of INMM. The associate editors are appointed by the chair of their technical division. Goals are to assure the associate editor’s particular area of expertise is appropriately covered in the Journal and that papers in those areas are high-quality and technically sound. Specific duties include recommending authors, referring papers to the Journal, reviewing papers and identifying peer reviewers. 

Managing Editor (INMM Headquarters staff)

The managing editor coordinates contributors in a timely and efficient manner to assure a clear, accurate and appealing presentation of contributed materials. Also, in coordination with the executive director and Executive Committee, the Managing Editor recommends and maintains publication budgets. Specific duties include handling day-to-day operations of the Journal (e.g. corresponding with the technical editor, article authors, INMM officers and other contributors to make them aware of due dates and guidelines), creating announcements and advertisements for INMM events and products, finding calendar items for publication, copy editing, proofreading and laying out the publication, and coordinating print and prepress functions.

Book Review Editor
The book review editor chooses books to be reviewed and provides book reviews as appropriate.

Industry News Editor
Compares industry activities with INMM’s strategic plan.

Advertising Coordinator 
Maximizes advertising revenue and coordinates the timely receipt and/or production of advertising materials. The Advertising Coordinator coordinates letters, rate cards and other promotions sent to potential advertisers.

INMM Executive Director
Provides oversight of headquarters editorial staff and administrative functions. Conveys relevant INMM information to Journal staff for publication.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee considers applications for membership to the INMM, makes recommendations on membership policy to the INMM Executive Committee, and coordinates the Member News column in the INMM Communicator newsletter.

The Membership Committee Chair ensures the Institute provides high-quality membership services and promotes effective means to enhance professional recognition. This includes the responsibility to prepare annual membership dues statements for INMM Headquarters, attend EC meetings, prepare written reports for EC and JNMM, review new membership applications or changes in membership grade, make recommendations for new Senior Members, review existing membership services and propose changes to provide better service from INMM to the membership, review and propose appropriate means to promote increased membership and enhance professional recognition, ensure instructions and requirements for all levels of membership are current in the Bylaws and Operations Manual, ensure all Members get appropriate badges at Annual Meeting, submit budget requests to EC for Fall budget planning activities, and review Annual Membership Directory for accuracy prior to publishing each year. 

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee consists of the Officers and is chaired by the Immediate Past President. The Committee identifies candidates for each office and position identified in the bylaws. 

The Nominating Committee Chair furnishes to the INMM Secretary, by April 1 of each year, the names of one or more Members as candidates for each of the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer; and each of the other elective positions on the EC to which Members are to be elected.

Strategic Planning Committee

The Strategic Planning Committee was formed to assist the EC in performing both short and long-term analysis of the effectiveness of INMM. The Committee monitors current events and shares pertinent information, conducts ongoing strategic planning and stimulate strategic discussion among the membership, and respond to initiatives requested by the EC to ensure that the organization is effectively meeting the needs of the professional nuclear materials management community.
