Honor and Diligence, Dedication and Faithfulness
 |
By Yvonne Ferris
INMM Awards Oversight Committee Chair |
I’m again reminding you all of the marvelous opportunity that awaits you this time of year. No, it is not an opportunity to win the lottery or even the Super Bowl pool.
I'm talking about nominations for awards! I don't want to think that I have a one-track mind or that I think of nothing else. I just happen to believe with all my heart that honoring and recognizing diligence, dedication and faithfulness to our profession is supremely important.
Soon you will receive a lovely brochure from INMM Headquarters describing the various awards given by INMM, how to nominate someone, where to send the information, and what type of information is required. The brochure is beautifully done. You can't miss it. Additionally, the Awards Committees, ever sensitive to the need for more and more efficiency, have designed a form to aid in nominating a deserving person.
Begin thinking now about that special person (not necessarily a member) who has so unselfishly served our profession; or that laboratory, school or firm that has supported the INMM and its membership year after year; or that hardworking member who serves untiringly in whatever capacity is required.
Begin collecting supporting information on that person, firm, school or laboratory so you'll be ready to nominate her/him/it for the appropriate award when the brochure appears in your mail.
Also, although we are saddened by the loss of any of our colleagues, if you know of one of our members who passed away in the months since the last annual meeting, please let INMM headquarters staff know so that we may honor him or her at the next annual meeting.
Briefly, the awards are the Distinguished Service Award, the Meritorious Service Award, the J.D. Williams Student Paper Award, Special Awards and Resolutions of Respect. Please read the criteria for each award, complete the required paperwork and send it to

Thank you in advance for your interest and participation in one of the INMM's most important and enjoyable functions. No one who has faithfully served the Institute or profession should be overlooked.
