Welcome to the fall 2005 issue of the INMM Communicator! It is time to wrap up the Institute’s Annual Meeting, which was held at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz., July 10-14, 2005. Those of you who participated know that it was a huge success. Those of you who were unable to participate can read about the meeting highlights in this issue.

Once again, at the Annual Meeting’s speakers’ breakfast, INMM Fellow Paul Ebel delivered an excellent speech on how to improve our presentations. This year’s speech was about how to obtain good questions at the end of our presentations. A summary of his tips is included in this issue of the Communicator.

One of the highlights of this year’s meeting was the announcement of INMM’s first student chapter, which was formed at Texas A&M University. Read all about it in a piece by Karen Miller, the student chapter’s president.

As in every issue of the Communicator, we have news about the Institute’s internal operations in a column by INMM Vice President Nancy Jo Nicholas, Inside Insights. Another regular feature is Member News, by Scott Vance, our Membership Committee chair. We welcome the newest INMM members, whose names are listed in his piece.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that I have accepted the position of chair of the INMM Communications Committee. I am honored to take on this role and look forward to a productive year. I encourage any member interested in serving on the committee to contact me.

I am also looking for an assistant editor to help with the Communicator. This is another opportunity to get involved with our Institute, which is based on the volunteer service of its members. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or would like more information, please drop me a line at pozzisa@ornl.gov.
