Welcome to the spring edition of the INMM Communicator. We have a few changes in the INMM leadership: Steve Ortiz was elected vice president of INMM and Grace Thompson was selected as Membership Chair! Congratulations Steve and Grace on your new positions. And many thanks to Scott Vance for his many years of service as Membership chair. He is now serving INMM as a member-at-large on the Executive Committee.

Nancy Jo Nicholas has taken on the role of INMM president. Good luck, Nancy Jo!

By now you should have submitted your abstracts for the 48th INMM annual meeting. The Technical Program Committee will review the abstracts at the March INMM Executive Committee meeting and will e-mail the decision on acceptance by March 31, 2007. The 48 th INMM Annual Meeting will be held in Tucson, Ariz., July 8-12, 2007, at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.

As a reminder, full papers are due on June 8, 2007, and will be published in the meeting proceedings. Read Technical Program Chair Charles Pietri’s piece for more information.

We are thrilled by the increase in student attendance at our annual meetings. This year we again anticipate many students attending from all over the United States and from overseas. The Awards Committee will judge the student papers and presentations or posters for the J. D. Williams Student Paper Award. This prestigious and competitive award is given to the best student paper and poster presented at the meeting.

In this issue of the Communicator, you will find a note from Yvonne Ferris, chair of the Awards Committee, inviting nominations for awards of our deserving colleagues. Our regular pieces include Member News, news on the membership by Membership Chair Grace Thompson, and a piece by INMM vice president Steve Ortiz, who provides us with information on INMM leadership in his column, Inside Insights. Finally, we have news on PATRAM, the International Symposium on the Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Materials, which will be held in Miami on Oct. 21-26, 2007.

As always, I look forward to hearing from you at pozzisa@ornl.gov. See you in Tucson this summer!
