Nominate Your Colleagues for an INMM Award
 |
By Yvonne Ferris
Chair, INMM Awards Oversight Committee |
The holidays are over. The snow has fallen. The Ground Hog has seen his shadow. Can you guess what comes next? It’s time to nominate deserving nuclear materials management professionals for an INMM Award.
I’m sure you share my feelings that honoring and recognizing the diligence, dedication and faithfulness to our profession is supremely important. Soon you will receive a brochure from INMM Headquarters describing the various awards given by the Institute, how to submit the name of a nominee, where to send the information, and what type of information is required. The brochure is beautifully done in grey, black and plum—very dramatic. You can’t miss it. You’ll receive it either electronically or by postal mail.
Begin now thinking about that special person (not necessarily a member) who has unselfishly served our profession; or that laboratory, school or firm which has supported the Institute and its membership year after year; or that hardworking member who serves untiringly in whatever capacity is required. Begin collecting supporting information on that person, firm, school or laboratory and be ready to nominate her/him/it for the appropriate award when the brochure appears in your mail.
Briefly, the awards are the Distinguished Service Award, the Meritorious Service Award and the Special Service Award. Please read the criteria for each award and complete the required paperwork, which is a part of the awards brochure.
As an added request, if you know of any of our members who have passed away this past year, we would very much appreciate being notified of this so we may prepare a Resolution of Respect. Any information concerning the individual’s career and outside/community activities are needed and appreciated. This is a sad activity, but we can rejoice in realizing we have had the privilege to know and work with him or her and to share the individual’s contributions with others. Send this information as well as the information for the three awards mentioned above to
INMM
60 Revere Drive, Suite 500
Northbrook, IL 60062
Thank you in advance for your interest and participation in one of the INMM’s most important and enjoyable functions. No one who has faithfully served the Institute or profession should be overlooked.
