Member News
As the weather heats up, the 46th Annual Meeting draws closer. I hope that you have already made arrangements to attend this year’s meeting in Phoenix, at the Desert Ridge Resort, July 10-14.
If not, you can find all of the information regarding the meeting, as well as aconvenient online registration form on the INMM Web site. For those of you who have joined INMM since the last INMM Annual Meeting, you are invited to attend a reception in your honor on July 11. I hope that you will make plans to attend.
Membership applications continue to pour in, and we welcome the 52 individuals who have joined INMM since the last edition of the Communicator.
We especially welcome our new student members. We are excited to announce that INMM now has its first student chapter, located at Texas A&M University. (Read First INMM Student Chapter Formed at Texas A&M for details.)
We are excited by the enthusiasm displayed by this group of individuals, and look forward to working with them in the years to come. We hope that several of our new student members will hattend the Annual Meeting so that we can meet them and encourage them as they consider careers in the field of nuclear materials management. You can find their names, as well as the names of all the new members since the last edition of the Communicator, at the end of this report.
As always, you can find contact information for these new members (as well as any member of INMM) in our online membership database. You can also print out a hardcopy version of the membership directory, if you prefer to have it offline. Please be aware that individuals’ contact information changes frequently; if you find that the information in the hardcopy version of the directory is outdated, be sure to check the online database. Also, if your own contact information changes, please be sure to change the information in our database so that other members can reach you – it’s easy and takes only a few minutes.
While those of us within INMM are often aware of the contributions our members make to the advancement of nuclear materials management, it is always nice when someone outside of INMM recognizes them as well.
DeVito Recognized for Contributions
For many years, the Executive Committee of INMM has been ably assisted by Vince DeVito, who serves as the Secretary of INMM.
Vince has been so active in INMM for so many years, it may be hard for you to imagine that he has had time to do anything else. But in addition to serving the Executive Committee and INMM as a whole for so well, he has also been a significant force in the nuclear materials management profession.
In recognition of his 50 years of dedication to the profession, the DOE Office of Security and Safety Performance Assurance recently awarded Vince the plaque shown here.
The plaque states that “Nobody has done it better or with more professionalism than you,” and we can say the same thing regarding Vince’s untiring dedication to INMM. Congratulations, Vince.
I welcome your news about any INMM member, including yourself. Please send any items of interest and keep your colleagues informed by contacting either me at scott.vance@shawpittman.com or Communicator Editor Sara Pozzi at pozzisa@ornl.gov. Please include photographs when possible.
