Trinity Engineering Associates, Inc., under contract to the DOE, Office of Science – Chicago, is seeking an individual to provide technical support in the management of nuclear materials to assist the NBL Material Disposition Team Lead. Work tasks may include partial or full responsibility for any of the following:
- Developing documentation on nuclear materials proposed for de-inventory such as scrap decks or excess declarations;
- Assisting NBL MC&A staff in development of other documentation necessary to meet nuclear material control and/or nuclear material data collection and management;
- Collation of available technical data on materials planned for inventory reduction including accessing available records, evaluating data, and developing material summaries;
- Work in partnership with NBL MC&A representatives drafting excess declarations for uranium, thorium and transuranic materials.
Interested applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the management of nuclear materials per DOE O 410.2 Management of Nuclear Materials, DOE O 474.2 Nuclear Material Control and Accountability, or DOE M 441.1-1 Nuclear Material Packaging Manual. The applicant must also complete the NBL qualifications for Technical Support Personnel as required per NBL Training Program Manual and Training Implementation Matrix (TPM/TIM). Acceptable candidates will have a background in physical sciences (chemistry or physics) and good organizational skills.
The successful applicant will join the Material Disposition Team and take daily work direction, including the definition of expected deliverables, from the Material Disposition Team Lead (NBL Technical Monitor). Hours are limited to 40 hours per week, excluding holidays.
Current expected duration of the project is through July 27, 2015. Chicago area residency preferred however the client will consider applicant residing outside of the Chicago area for exceptional candidates.
